Ms. Rose is our school counselor at MAI. She provides students a comprehensive program focused on helping students succeed in their academic, career, and personal lives. Students love connecting and talking with Ms. Rose. She has a kind heart that students really respond to, and that kindness enables her to counsel students in their lives in unique ways to help them succeed.
Ms. Rose is from North Cove, NC. She was a teacher for many years in Special Education, and then switched to the position of school counselor. She completed her undergraduate studies at East Tennessee State University in Special Education with a Geography major, and also received her Masters in School Counseling from Western Carolina University.
Her teaching philosophy is that everyone has the ability to learn. When you do not get it the first time, you can try again. She decided to be a teacher to help high school students plan for their future. After teaching for fourteen years, she wanted to help students in a different capacity than she did teaching. Counseling students and helping them in different ways has offered her a new challenge at school that she really enjoys.
Ms. Rose’s worst subject in school was math, but she did not let that stop her from passing. She studied extra hard in math class and learned that with hard work anything is possible. She tries to model that lesson and many others each day to students at MAI.
Ms. Rose’s favorite hobbies are reading, gardening, and outdoor activities. Interestingly, she has lived in North Carolina her entire life. Ms. Rose listens to a wide variety of music. Her favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. She loves to laugh and it is natural that her favorite movie is Caddyshack.
As you can see, Ms. Rose is an important part of the MAI family. Whether it be helping students prepare for college life, helping students pick classes, or counseling students and offering advice, she always brings a positive presence to MAI that helps all students succeed and grow.
